About Me
Olá! My name is Sara J Fonseca, I'm a Brazilian-Australian illustrator, cartoonist, and animator living in Meanjin/Brisbane. I fell in love with comics and cartoons at a young age, using all my pocket money to buy Turma da Mônica gibis (if you know, you know).
I migrated to Australia with my family as a teenager, and in 2010 completed a Bachelor of Animation at the Queensland College of Art. I kept reading comics and went on to work in the animation and games industry for several years before launching into a career as a freelance illustrator and designer.
Some of my clients include Road to Refuge, Queensland Government, Multicultural Australia, Zero a Oito Publishing, Christen's Gingerbread, Pop Up Party Co., The Junction, SIP Espresso, and Wild Child Play. In 2019 I was awarded Best In Conference in the SCBWI San Francisco North & East Oktoberfest Portfolio Showcase.
These days I can usually be found in my studio painting, reading, or working on my next zine.
